KARAMOLEGOS: Bread Battles

Karamolegos family for three generations, from 1950, using excellent raw ingredients -GMO free- combining nutrition values and modern production methods and create the best bread products. After three generations of knowledge and love, Manolis Karamolegos is a pioneer in the bread industry and has created a legacy.

The Bread Battles was the first online cooking competition organized by Karamolegos. The competition was conducted in collaboration with the beloved TV chef Akis Petretzikis, who invited participants to create their own imaginative recipe using one of the 5 kinds of bread from the Karamolegos produces and upload it on Instagram. Participants were judged on one or more of the 5 Challenges, choosing their favorite Karamolegos bread and making a dish, combining the 2 ingredients given for each challenge with any other ingredient of their own choosing. Uploading the photo of your creation along with the recipe and the hashtag #breadbattles you immediately entered the competition were the audience voted and judged.  I participated with 3 recipes and in the end of the voting period I was one out of five winners who passed at the final stage, the live cooking competition.

At the hospitable venue of HUB Athens, the famous chef welcomed all 5 of us in a spectacular final show, were we had to cook live in 30 minutes, with unknown ingredients one or more recipes using of course as the main ingredient the Karamolengos bread. Eventually I was the winner of the competition getting the highest points by the chef and the audience who attended the event. The grand prize was a gastronomy and tasting trip in Bangkok, Thailand. An experience that has inspired me and enlightened me in a way any other trip has done before. A lot to come after this trip, and many ideas have been generated.
